Have you guys seen this? For me it confirms that the problem I have with the 2010 Daleks isn't the design, but the way they move. I don't think they look bad in stills (though I think the designs for them on paper were subtly better on many levels), but find that, compared with the 2005 versions we see in Victory of the Daleks, they seem to be struggling whenever they move - not quite being quick or fluid enough, as if both the floor, and then the joints of the Dalek body, were working against them.

Since there's no wobbliness in this CGI fan film, they seem immediately improved for me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MF4W-q768Q

Any other opinions? I'd like to know whether people are warming to the 2010 Daleks yet. I feel that there's something wrong with them, but not that they're an outright disaster, and certainly I think that with a bit of tweaking they have the potential to be altogether more more menacing next time around.

Random prediction: despite sounding excellent, the Eternal will eventually be used to keep the Dalek race going after being destroyed as this year's EMERGENCY TEMPORAL SHIFT!

(I'm aware that nothing has been officially decided for each Dalek subtype yet, beyond the obvious and for the record I'm a big fan of Daleks being colour coded for your convenience.)

I agree with most of this review, though another thing that jumped out at me (especially having recently watched the Colin Baker era "The Two Doctors") is that now the Daleks seem to have unlimited powers of casual time travel - when did they get that exactly? Their time travel capsule was originally very much a Time Lord prison cell, yet now they seem to be able to zip wherever they want and the Doc doesn't bat an eyelid. Compare this with how frantic he was over the possibility of much less dangerous races learning to time travel in earlier eras.

The Supreme Daleks is the white one - what are the others, again? Is there a soldier amongst them, or is there any chance the one we see most often in the future will be a bit smaller, and won't have the hump?

They really are scarily massive.

I've yet to warm to them in this respect. Sylvester McCoy observed in an interview years ago that one of the scary things about the Daleks was that they were like small tanks that could come into your house. They could silently glide through a doorway and there they'd be in a room with you. The new larger ones are too big to do that. For all the benefit the new size brings, 1) it's a benefit that will only work when they're up close, 2) they won't be able to get through any normal doors. Nor wear any standard-sized T-shirts, for that matter.
