Blimey, it’s crept up on us a bit (thanks to two low-key preceding episodes), but this Saturday, a MOFFAT SERIES FINALE begins. Exciting, isn’t it?
So naturally, it’s time to start speculating about the nature of the threat the Doctor and Amy will face, particularly given the tease of the “next time” trailer. I’ve got my theory – in fact, I’ve had it for a few weeks, now, and I also think I’m clearly not the only person to have it – which I’ll share after the jump. But what do you think? What’s causing the cracks? Who or what is in the Pandorica?
“There was a goblin. Or a trickster, or a warrior. A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. Nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it – one day it would just drop out of the sky, and tear down your world.”
“Daleks.. Cyber-ships, Sontaran, Slitheen, Chelonian, Nesteen Drahvin…” “What’s in there? What could justify all this?”
And it’s been said multiple times that whatever the “big bad” for this year is, it’s appeared in every episode of the series.
So… it’s the Doctor, isn’t it?

God, I hope this is Moffat at the top of his game. The 11th Hour was good, but his other episodes this season haven’t come to close to matching TGITF, Blink and Silence in the Library.

I’ve loved series five. The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood aside, it’s been the strongest series of the show so far.
Blogtor Who posted concept art of the Pandorica and… well, <a href='http://blogtorwho.blogspot.com/2010/06/finale-concept-art-spoilers.html"spoilers, I suppose.

Fuck, that HTML didn’t work at all. I can see the typo and everything. Oh well, this one will work, surely [SPOILERS, maybe].

I fully expect the cliffhanger to involve them opening it to find there’s nothing in it, followed by the Doctor being dragged into it as seen in that picture that got out a couple of weeks ago.

OKAY PEOPLE, DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK IF YOU DON’T WANT IT RUINING
(I mean, thanks for posting it, Ben, it’s interesting – but there will be people who won’t want that spoiling, and it’s pretty massive)

VS – you mean this picture, yes?

(SPOILERS IN THAT ONE, TOO)
I’m deleting that comment I posted earlier, actually, because it now reads more like speculation based on what’s been seen (or could even be actually accurate) – and that’s more spoilerific than I’d care to share without proper spoiler tags.

Yep, that’s exactly the one.

As good as he undoubtedly is, Peter McKinstry is a fucking idiot for publishing that art this week.

Eh. Keep in mind there could be a reason for that image that we haven’t even considered yet. (Says the woman who hasn’t even seen “Cold Blood” yet, rakkin’ frakkin’ U.S. schedule … )

Incidently, looking at more of his concept art, picture 40 here is interesting…: http://www.petermckinstry.com/page8.htm

Ah, just been told that Doctor Who Adventures confirmed that it’s from a cut scene from Vincent and the Doctor. Speculation over.
