NEW TRAILER

Cor, yes.

We’ll dissect this properly tomorrow, but for now, before the hordes of Gallifrey Base call us lying bastards, we’ll just clarify that (SPOILERS)…

… yes, there’s a Cybus-style Cyberman in there. BUT. That doesn’t rule out a redesign. We were only stating what we’d heard, from someone in a position to know about these things. We’re perfectly willing to be called pillocks if it still turns out not to be the case, but… well, remember when we thought the only Dalek in series one was going to be in “Dalek”? Let’s just wait and see, eh?

Seb Patrick once met Paul McGann, who immediately pretended to be Mark McGann. He writes for Den of Geek, BBC America, Film4 and the official Red Dwarf website, among others. He owns over thirty toy Daleks and wishes the Dapol factory tour was still open.

  1. Some things that strike me so far:

    1) The effects look great. The dogfight in space is particularly impressive, though the caves and Britain in space and in WW2 are equally lovely. Kudos to the Mill.

    2) Matt Smith really is very believable in the role isn’t he? You’d swear he’d been in the role for years.

    3) The look of the thing is very impressive. Just look at scenes like the horse riding one, some great directing there.

    4) New Tardis continues to look interesting, console is an interesting change and it appears we have the return of some white walls in there too.

    Overall? Marvellous.

  2. I’m loving the feel of it. The dreamy atmosphere, the knackered Cyberman, the glimpses inside the TARDIS, and the way they’re SPEAKING. I can imagine Tennant saying those exact words in a trailer for a new series, but he’d be yelling them.

All in all, continuing to look forward to it. I’m kind of wishing away these remaining weeks now, which is so frustrating but I can’t help it.

  3. … yes, there’s a Cybus-style Cyberman in there. BUT. That doesn’t rule out a redesign.

The Leisure Hive have already leapt on the design shown in the trailer and have decided that the entire series will be as shit as they anticipated. In my ridiculous desire to catch every possible Who update possible, that forum is on my list of places to visit, but I really should stop going there – they sap the joy out of everything.

  4. Matt Smith has made a point of referring to the new series as a “fairytale adventure” on a couple of occasions, and I think the trailer captures that perfectly.

    EXCITEMENT.
